Re: X1 Carbon 3: Light from inside of the display on display hinges after a warranty repair

First of all I'd like to say hello to all of you guys as this is my first post on these forums.

I have  a following question: my ThinkPad X1 Carbon 3rd Gen laptop has been in for a warranty screen replacement. Now I have a weird light coming out from inside of the screen and shining on the display hinges as shown in the photo below. Do you have this light as well, or is this something which is out of the ordinary? I'm asking cos I think it might has not been there before.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome to the Community

My x1c gen3 has the same light in the same left hinge, not sure so bright. I can't explain whether it's a trouble or "feature by design".

Re: X1 Carbon 3: Light from inside of the display on display hinges after a warranty repair

Thanks for your input. Umm, yeah, I'm not sure either. It might be that I just haven't noticed it before and now I am super cautious about details. And if I slightly press the screen right above the hinge, the light disappears, as if the fit was not perfect. I have a similar light but smaller in the right corner. I am going to compare it to other Carbons when I get a chance and see if it's there. Anyone else has this issue?
