X1 Carbon 3rd Gen Issues

2015-05-11, 18:28 PM

Hey Guys,

Been a while, just got a 3rd Gen X1 Carbon today, CTO model (with 512gb SSD upgrade only basically).

Anyway the G key is a bit bent inwards, the trackpoint isn't sitting flat, the fingerprint reader is a bit loose in its housing and the laptop doesn't close flush - there's a gap in the middle area.

Also the sim slot mechanism doesn't seem secure or firm at all, but I'm not sure if thats build quality or just a generic design thing.

Should I ask them to swap it out ? How could I go about doing this.

Looks like I'm not the only one suffering some build quality issues with these 3rd Gens.

No one at all ? :(

Also the left click button clicks whilst you're just resting on it.

And the screen brightness/colouring or just the screen is giving me a headache.

No Trackpoint clicking issues for me but I also had a replacement keyboard.  Since the replacement, everything has been rock solid for me (but I'd still like to see Lenovo to go back to the full height keys rather than these chicklet things).

Does your left button click or is it just a button push ?

I have the 3rd generation X1 so the Trackpoint has its own left, middle and right buttons, which all work perfectly.
