X1 Carbon 3rd Gen PCIe SSD upgrade

2017-02-13, 0:39 AM

Dear All!

I have the 3rd Gen X1 Carbon, comes with an OEM Samsung 256gb Sata 3 SSD.

I want to upgrade to the PCIe 3.0 256GB SM951, AHCI version(number MZHPV256HDGL-00000)

Even thought this is the original part of this notebook(512GB version), lenovo's FRU has a 000L1 number, and some forum members had booting issues with the OEM SM951(L-00000), similar to the NVMe version's booting issue(3rd X1C does not support NVMe).

The question is, can I buy this thing now? Or it won't boot without original Lenovo FRU SSD..

Thanks!
