I'm trying to find information for installing an EM7455 LTE card in a thinkpad carbon gen 4. The card shipped seperately from the laptop. There is already a wireless Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 (8260NGW) NGFF wifi Card that is installed.
I can't find any information for this other then the hardware docs which show how to replace a WLAN card which is where the current card is installed. Does the EM7455 replace the 8260NGW or which slot should the LTE card be installed?
Pic of board attached. EM7455 card in bag. 8260NGW is under the flap I'm lifting with my finger. Also after the install are there specific drivers I need to install or will windows detect and install the proper drivers? (Win 7)

Good day and welcome to the community.
The WWAN card installs in the upper right (based on your image).
Please see manual pages 66 and 67 of the HMM: https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/x1carbon_mt20fb-20fc_x1yoga_hmm_en_sp40j72016.pdf
As far as needed drivers, please see: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/ThinkPad-X-Series-laptops/ThinkPad-X1-... and then select Networking: Wireless WAN from the Component dropdown.
Hope this helps.

I too have a new X1 Carbon 4th Gen, and forgot to order the WWAN adapter factory installed. I'm trying to decide whether or not to purchase the EM7455 and install it myself, or whether to just return the whole machine and start over.
Was it very difficult to get the card installed? I've got a tech guy that works at my company that can do the work, I'm just a little nervous about cracking it open.

It wasn't difficult to install the card. The hardest part which was difficult was connecting the two wires from the laptop to the card. They are very tiny cap connectors and it took me some time to snap them on.

I just got a SIM card (GSM) from Ting.com that I am trying to use with my X1 Carbon 4th gen for mobile internet. I don't think my thinkpad has a wireless card installed based on this - lsusb -t doesn't show anything so I'm interested in installing one from a vendor like this .
Is this pretty much what you did? You bought an X1 Carbon without an antenna, and bought one separately? If so, did you need any components other than the card to install it? I haven't opened up my machine yet to look inside.
