X1 Carbon 4th doesn't boot up anymore

Hello, I'm the happy owner of a brand new Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 4th gen, received 3 weeks ago and it doesn't boot anymore. Yesterday, I left it up and running, not plugged in and it shut down after being discharged. Since then, I haven't been able to boot up the device. When I plug the power plug, I could see the red light showing it's charging and now it became green which means it's fully charged but nothing happens when I press the button start. As well, when I plug the AC adapter, the power button blinks 3 times green. I've tried to perform a hard reset using a clip and the middle hole in the back but no success. Does anybody had such experience and has an idea on how sort out this thing? help would be really appreciate. Regards, poy

Not sure if this helps, but you must have the AC adapter attached after resetting when you try to power the system on.

Re: X1 Carbon 4th doesn't boot up anymore

Hello,

thanks for your message. I've tried as you said:

- unplug AC
- Press power button for 10 seconds
- Press reset button for 5 seconds
- replug AC and press power button

Didn't worked. Did I missed something in the modus operandi?
Thanks in advance for kind help.

I'm having the exact same issue with 3rd Gen. Did you manage to fix it??

Re: X1 Carbon 4th doesn't boot up anymore

Hello,

yes. I've open a case by Lenovo. An engineer went on site and he did the following:

- Open the rear case

- unplug the tiny connector of the battery (be careful, it's really tiny and may break easily)

- unplug the tiny connector of the CMOS battery (same type of tiny plug)

- then plugged both back

- then power on.

The engineer thought it was an known issue that a BIOS update should fix but mine is running under latest release (1.18). No luck then.

So today, I'm running again the device out of battery to see if it will do the same again.

I'll keep you posted.

Cheers

poy.
