X1 Carbon 5 gen - LTE / WWAN PROBLEM

2019-06-29, 21:54 PM

Hello,

I am the owner of ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5th Gen - Machine Type Model: 20HR002BMH (LTE)

Kindly ask you to help me in problem wit LTE/WWAN connection - after i plugin a SIM card i see Network name and notification: No service, in turn if i use same SIM card in mobile phone, it works perfectly. From the above,  I can conclude, that problem with LTE is in hardware or software of Laptop.

Please tell me, what should i do to fix problems with LTE? Maybe i should install some specific software/drivers?

FYI: Lenovo updates are fully installed using Vantage program. Windows  also is uptodate using internal system.

BTW, previously the connection worked, before software update.

I have the exact same problem after latest windows 1903 updates. The SIM had been working fine for months but suddenly, righ after windows updates, it stared to show "Insert SIM" on the cellural network option.

The updates were KB4501375 and KB4502584. Laptop model is 20HQS1PG00. LTE device is EM7455 snapdragon X7LTE-A.

I tried restarting, enabling-disabling device, reinstalling official drivers... nothing. Would be nice to get a confirmation that somebody is working on this issue.

Nvm, the SIM card had somehow nudged out of its position in the socket. After cleaning it is working as it should again.

Hi MAPK! This is primarily users helping users here, moderated by volunteers like me. There is increasing Lenovo presence, but they don't patrol the entire community. Have you searched this board for others with similar problems? WWAN is a popular topic!

I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

Had this trouble with a user at work today.  Problem started after 1903 update.   Fix was to download both the drivers and firmware directly from Sierra Wireless.

Try just installing the driver first.   My user didn't even have the WWAN show up in device manager.  After installing the drivers it showed up in device manager but gave Insert Sim error.  Then I had to install carrier specific firmware.  After that my user was able to connect to LTE.

Note you will have to register to sierrawireless.com website in order to download the files.
