There is a pre-cofnigured X1 Carbon 5th Gen model (SKU: 20HR000FUS)

that includes all the options I'm interested in except the WWAN Sierra Wireless EM7455 LTE card. I know I can order that card from Lenovo or other vendors, but does anyone know if the related WWAN components (antennas, sim card slot, etc) would be pre-installed?

From reading WWAN card installation posts for the 4th gen X1 Carbon I'd just need to plug in 2 antenna wires once I had installed the card. Any other hardware/software tips if going this route?

"WWAN upgradable" means wwan antennas set is installed, like 20FB004QUS you've mentioned.

"WWAN" feature means antennas and wwan modem are preinstalled.

Unfortunately, the laptop you're talking about, doesn't have wwan antennas set installed

Thanks for the reply. For other 5th Gen SKUs, if it says "WWAN Upgradable" under WWAN I'm good to go?

How would I find out if my X1 Carbon 5th gen is WWAN upgradeable? It's an i5-7300U with 16 GB of RAM.

My model number is 20HR-CTO1WW

I'm thinking of buying an 8 GB RAM X1 Carbon for my wife and taking the WWAN card out of it since she doesn't need it.

Hello,

did you come up with a solution to install antennas? opening up th bottom i see traces for the antenna wires for my carbon x1 (fifth gen) I understand the model is 20HR doesnt have preinstalled antennas, but i would like to put them in along with the WWAN card.
