I am at my wit's end here. I've tried all the usual troubleshooting tactics to try and resolve this issue but for about 4 months now my microphone and webcam have not been working on my 5th generation X1 Carbon Thinkpad laptop.
This is driving me crazy. Is this a known issue? Is there anything else I can try to resolve this?
The sound works fine but microphone is never detected whether it's through the laptop, through the headphone jack, or through a USB-C earbud or bluetooth.
Really cripples my ability to get any work done with web conferences and video meetings.
I've searched around and haven't found any solutions. Please help!

Look in the device manager and check to see if there are problem devices

Not knowing if you have tried yet, and assuming you have the correct drivers installed, check Windows 10's privacy settings, and make sure that access to the microphone and camera are allowed by the applications you are using.

@JDGillis I would give you a big hug if I could, that did it. I got a little overzealous with my privacy settings and didn't realize the ramifications, THANK YOU!
