X1 Carbon 5th gen - User defined key setup

2017-04-23, 16:39 PM

Hi all,

maybe a lame quedstion, but the X1 features this nice, programmable "Star" key. I can think of several folders I would like to use it as a shortcut to, however I fail to think of a way to do so:

I would like it to open explorer in a specific path (folder). E.g. open explorer with C:\Program Files.

So it is neither an application (alone), nor a specific file.

How do I do that? Any workarounds?

Hi,

I hadn't noticed that key on my TP Yoga 370.  Thanks for pointing this out :)

In a very quick test, this seemed to work:

Create a bat file.  Mine is called StarTest.bat.  The contents are one line:

start explorer "C:\Program Files"

I set up the star key to open StarTest.bat as a file.

As I said, this test was quick and clueless, so no idea if it is intended to work this way.  Give it a try.

Z.

...a follow up, advanced question ;)

Any way of making Explorer go to the end of the list (scroll down). Basically to open explorer with specific folder and "hit" the End key automatically...?
