Different model but similar problem.  X280: n20g901w - 1.0.0.4 killed the TrackPoint and buttons.  TouchPad continues to work.

Very long update process fails with timeout and dead TrackPoint.  FWIW, log is full of stuff like the below.

Wonders happen! :)

But apparently not for everyone. I tried to install N23GC05W. The Windows console terminated without any messages. "PackRat ID" shows 2685418 which is an older version.

Then I tried to reinstall the TrackPoint firmware n23g901w. It ran for several minutes, then again ended in failure with a timeout message.

The TouchPad continues to work but the TrackPoint and the two button bars above the TouchPad are still dead.

Good news! I got a suggestion by PM to install the Synaptics firmware update manually. I did that, then reinstalled the TrackPoint firmware update. Both flashed without a hitch. Now my TrackPoint and TouchPad are both working fine.

Quoted from the PM:

In case 05w.exe package did not run successfully on your X1C6, kindly do re-try by following manual method:

1. Go to the path where downloaded package file has been extracted

Default Location: C:\Drivers\WIN\TouchpadFW\n23gc05w\

2. Double click to run synreflash.exe

3. Click Start button to begin reflash

4. Wait for progress bar becomes 100%.

5. After reflash completes, shutdown or reboot the system

I followed that procedure. The manual install flashed the firmware. (The Packrat ID now reads 2812761.) I don't know why this failed previously when run using the installer N23GC05W.EXE.

Then I rebooted and reinstalled the TrackPoint firmware update N23G901W. Then rebooted once more.

Now my TrackPoint works again and my X1C6 is as good as new!

Outstanding!  This also worked for my X280.  The paths and versions are a bit different but the process was the same.

Thanks, and thanks to your PM correspondent!

Hopefully this will be fixed for Lenovo P52 users, too. I got same error on my P52 too.

I'm still wating for Lenovo teams release new version of TrackPoint Firmware Update Utility for Windows 10 (64-bit) - ThinkPad for P52 to fix this issue.

My post at here, but not fix my issue.

Just want to let people know that now 3 weeks after installing the firmware manually, not only does my X1C6 work as good as new, it actually works better than new. The TrackPoint hasn't drifted or gone into recalibration even once. The TrackPoint is working flawlessly.

Thank you Lenovo!

How to fix it, guys?

I tryed to use MINDmanager program
and I've some issue. My touchpad scroll doesn't work properly exactly with this program. In all other programs, everything works fine, but it does not work proprly in mindjet. Look at video I recorded. All updates and fresh drivers installed.
