X1 Carbon 6th Gen - TB3 Dock Three Monitor Issue (DP+DP+HDMI)

2019-05-19, 17:36 PM

I have a new X1 Cabon 6th that's replacing a Dell XPS 9350. I was hoping to keep using my Dell branded TB3 dock for my 3 monitor setup. The monitor ports are 2 x DP and 1 x HDMI. When connected by either USB C or USB A the 2 DP port monitors come up right away. The HDMI monitor does not. However, when I run the TB3 firmware utility downloaded from the following link, the HDMI monitor comes up and everything works fine. If I reboot, the HDMI monitor no longer works and I have to re-run the TB3 firmware utility then it all works again. Sometimes I can connect and reconnect to the dock and it will continue to work as long as I havent rebooted and sometimes it wont. Is there anyway around have to keep re-running the TB3 firmware utility for the HDMI display to be recognized?

Hi Tj1200! Welcome to our forums community. Try running update through the Lenovo Vantage app and install all available updates and check if the issue persist. If yes, base on the Dell TB3 dock compatible devices on the Dell website, the Lenovo device is not on the list of compatible device. Below is the list of compatible docking station for your laptop.
