X1 Carbon 6th Gen, loosing wifi gateway after SLEEP

When my X1 wakes up from Sleep I have no internet connection. I see I am connected to the WiFi router, but no internet. So I use the Microsoft Windows 10 troubleshooter (by right-clicking on the network icon with yellow exclamation mark) and within a few seconds it is fixed. It tells me it refreshed the gateway.  It happens 100% of the time the laptop resumes from sleep.

Is this an X1 problem?

Or a problem with my windows settings? Although, I don't see what I can change.

I've never experienced this issue with any of my many laptops before.

Re: X1 Carbon 6th Gen, loosing wifi gateway after SLEEP

Hi maniacmark, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!

Recent Intel WiFi drivers have included fixes for similar conditions. Lenovo's downloads are not updated yet, but at your own risk you can try the latest Intel driver here.

Let us know if that helps!

UPDATE 1st August 2019: Go to the X1C6 support page to download the latest driver with the latest fixes.

I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

Re: X1 Carbon 6th Gen, loosing wifi gateway after SLEEP

Thanks for the quick reply!

I will check out the native Intel drivers.

  •   On one hand, I trust them because it is their own driver.
  •   On the other hand, why the heck hasn't Lenovo picked them up yet?! Wondering if it will void my warranty.

I'll have a look.

Same problem for me.  How can this go unfixed for so long?  Basic operations like wake from sleep?

Re: X1 Carbon 6th Gen, loosing wifi gateway after SLEEP

I just loaded the intel driver https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/94150/Intel-Dual-Band-Wireless-AC-8265

20.70.6.1 for 8265/8260 (Only available in 64bit version)

which has the following in the release notes:

Key Issues Fixedand Changes

On a system which supports Modern Standby, the WiFi network connection may be lost after entering Sleep mode.

Time will tell...

There is still a problem after applying latest intel drivers...This is strange that Lenovo can't fix this...

Same problem here on a X1Y3. Also, the ethernet adapter of the Lenovo graphics dock crashes frequently after resuming from stand-by. The problems started surfacing with the 1903 update for Win10.

Same with X1C 6th. You might check Intel's forms as a discussion there suggests a fix by installing a previous driver version. A windows driver rollback doesn't provide a fix.

Re: X1 Carbon 6th Gen, loosing wifi gateway after SLEEP

I started having the same problem on a Gen 3 X1 Yoga, in the last couple of weeks. Nothing had changed on my system. Since then Windows updated to 1903, but that didn't fix the problem. I've tried deleting the driver a couple of times, that hasn't fixed it. Very frustrating that Lenovo being so slow about fixing this.
