X1 Carbon 6th Gen overheating

Hi,

I bought my new Carbon 6th gen 3 weeks ago, and it seems to get overheated very easily.

During a basic use, internet browsing, pictures browsing and so on, it takes my laptop about 20 minutes to overheat, and it gets hotter the more I use it (until I can barely touch the keyboard).

I'm using the computer on a table, so the fans are exposed, and try not to open many apps at once. The problem occuers both when using AC power/ battery.

Can you please assist with a solution for this problem? I've tried to find a solution online but didn't seem to find a proper one.

Thanks!

Aviv

Re: X1 Carbon 6th Gen overheating

If you got it three weeks ago, I would contact Lenovo now rather than waiting for a reply here so you can get an exchange within the return period.

When you say "overheating", do you mean the machine is getting so hot it powers itself off?

Re: X1 Carbon 6th Gen overheating

Hi,

Thank you for the response.

The computer doesn't shut off, however it is almost impossible to touch and use the keyboard for example.

I'm not quite sure whether returning is an option, is there any possible solution that will not require that?

Thanks,

Aviv

Re: X1 Carbon 6th Gen overheating

If you're experiencing problems with a new machine, IMO you should always try to exchange it. Once the return period is over, your only options are repairing it if something is wrong.

However, it's not clear what you mean by "overheating." The X1 Carbon can run quite warm, and what is hot to the touch can vary from user to user. It definitely gets hotter in the upper-right of the keyboard.

And we're back...

Move delayed but still coming
