Re: X1 Carbon 6th gen : Fan Noise

No the cases are reversed that’s why.

Try these:

C:\Windows\system32\powercfg.exe /setACvalueindex SCHEME_BALANCED SUB_PROCESSOR PERFEPP 33

C:\Windows\system32\powercfg.exe /setACvalueindex OVERLAY_SCHEME_MIN SUB_PROCESSOR PERFEPP 60

C:\Windows\system32\powercfg.exe /setactive scheme_current

I’ve now edited this to what you need based on your error screenshot.

This worked, many thanks. Just exit after and that's it?

I will update. Since I have typed the commands in the fan has not gone off. So far so good for the last 20 minutes or so.

It appears to me from your error message that you may have added a space in front of "powercfg.exe"

It's a mistake of copy-and-paste.  The commands that generate the errors, have extra spaces before C:\windows\system32\powercfg.exe

You can see the difference between the commands that generate the errors (in red) and ones that don't.   Hope this helps.

seriously with all due respect these are basic MS-DOS syntax and commands that we've used since decades ago and are fundamental to any Microsoft OS. Back in the days before Windows existed, these were the most simple of MS-DOS stuff that shouldn't need to be explained.

Well maybe they do to Apple / Mac users....
