I'm facing this issue as well and it's getting extremely annoying now! Not what you expect when on a premium 1500$ laptop

As for now the problem got worse since i installed the latest updates, some from Lenovo and as some from Microsoft.
The pad is almost useless, this has to be solved.

Same here, model 20QE, it takes 2 seconds until the touchpad starts working every time I touch it ... it seems the issue occurs only after having used the trackpoint before, but maybe that's just coincidence. This must be solved as it makes me carry around a mouse which is exactly the opposite I'd like to do using an ultraportable notebook.

Same issue with X1C 7th (20QD00M4RT). All updates installed (Vantage and Win10).

Reboot helps, but after sleep mode it comes again.

How to fix this?

I very disappointed with this problem on device with 1500$ cost!

Recently I opened a tech support case and got folowing recommends about this issue:

Resetting capacitors

To troubleshoot the problem, please do the following: 1. Turn off the device 2. Disconnect the charger and other accessories. 3. Then hold down the ON / OFF button for 60 seconds. 4. Connect the charger. 5. Switch on the device in the usual way. The button delay process resets the capacitors on the motherboard and thereby removes excess static energy from them. This has no effect on your data.

Installing drivers

To eliminate this problem, we recommend that you install the following drivers: - BIOS https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/n2huj27w.exe README for BIOS Update Utility https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/n2huj27w.txt - Intel Chipset Device https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/n2hic03w.exe - Synaptics Touchpad Firmware https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/n2hgc06w.exe - Intel Serial IO Driver (Version 1709) https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/n2hlh01w.exe Intel Serial IO Driver (Version 1803 or later) https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/ n2hli02w.exe We ask you to follow the installation order, as well as reboot the device after each driver installation.

Hardware Scan

Scan your hardware using Lenovo Vantage software: 1. Start the program. 2. Select "Scan for Hardware". 3. Then click "Settings" (next to the item "Scan for hardware"). 4. At the bottom, click Select to select all items. Please note, if the message "Low battery" appears, you must connect the charger otherwise the test will not start. 5. Wait for the end of testing. If you do not have this program, you can download it here: https://www.microsoft.com/ru-ru/store/p/lenovo-vantage/9wzdncrfj4mv

*In may case there is no effects of this actions, the problem still persist. And you?

Seems that I found how to fix it. Just go to Intel Graphics Command Center, choose "System", go to tab "Power" and disable parameter "Panel Self Refresh".

Works well for me!

No, did not work for me, maybe you've just been lucky? The issue comes and goes with my machine, sleep appears to play a role though ...

You can try to change other power settings at power tab of Intel Graphics Command Center

Re:X1 Carbon 7th Generation G7 - Trackpad Lags / Delays

Is anyone aware of any solution to this issue yet? I've tried hard to follow all suggestions out there without success. Being unable to use the trackpad in 50% of the time is very annoying, the issue comes and goes, there is no obvious pattern for me, can be immediately after reboot or after extensive use for quite a time. It would help me a lot finding out whether this is a hardware or software issue, but as the thing works fine in 50% of the time I'd tend to think it's the latter, but who knows. Before contacting support and requesting repair it would be great to find out, as this is my key working device which I'm depending on. Thanks in advance to the community for some thoughts!
