Hello,

I just received very sad news from Lenovo support.

The delay is deliberately made by Lenovo as "works as designed". Lenovo does not want that the Clickpad and the Trackpoint is used simultaneously and in combination!

Here is the original wording (in German):

"Wie Sie bereits befürchtet haben, ist es so, dass diese Touchpad-Verzögerung als „works as designed“ gesehen wird.

Der Hintergrund hierfür ist, dass die Nutzung des Touchpads und der Clickpad Tasten gleichzeitig, so eigentlich nicht vorgesehen ist.

Die Clickpad Tasten sind laut Engineering für die Nutzung in Verbindung mit dem Trackpoint gedacht."

Who gives Lenovo the right to decide, how I should use my computer???

This is a very disapointing fact for me, as I bought a this expensive Lenovo exactely for the purpose of using the Clickpad with the right hand and the buttons of the Trackpoint with the left hand... If I had known this before I would have never bought this machine.

It took two months of discussion with Lenovo (but I must say that the support person of Lenovo was very eager and competent) that they finally came up with this statement... I don' know why this is not openly communicated to all the users suffering from this "defect".

Very sad and disapointing.

This is complete nonsense there must be bug and they just don't want to admit it.

Check that video out by Lenovo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnFNuevMQoE - this is how it was officially designed.

And why this problem is specific to X1C7 users and not other models ?

even if this is a bug. The official message is, that it was intended and, hence, we have to live with this issue.

I have a Gen 8 and it also occurs here.

Very sad.

If this is a feature instead of a bug then I'd like to have the feature always. In this logic, my notebook works faulty most of the time when the touchpad reacts instantaneously and only sometimes fails when I can experience the great 2 second lag.

If this is official policy and not only a stupid idea of some service guy to scare you off, than it's a shame. If they try to make a feature of the bug one should open a support ticket to get the lag feature ALWAYS!

interesting... found recently

once issue occurs (cursor lag) then putting laptop to sleep and awaking again is eliminating that problem

you can check if works for you.

The "suggested solution" by Lenovo is a joke: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/ca/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-x1-carbon-7th-gen-type-20qd-20qe/20qd/solutions/ht104456-touchpad-or-trackpad-is-not-working-thinkpad ...

They suggest installing "... latest Synaptics ThinkPad UltraNav Driver from Lenovo Support Site ..." although there is none.

Maybe be we should start requesting them to replace our laptops for new once if they are not able to deliver solution , with that they might start  treating us more seriously.
