X1 Carbon 7th doesn't require password on wake from Sleep

2021-04-02, 5:39 AM

I have my X1 set to sleep when I close the lid. It appears to do that. But unless I wait quite a while, when I open the lid, no password is needed. That is a security issue if I close the lid and walk away from the laptop.

I would expect whenever it goes to sleep, any wakeup should require a password. It's how every Windows machine I have owned for many years has worked I have not found any setting that can accomplish this on the X1.

I haven't figured out how long the X1 waits before the password is required on wake. I could try testing it, but it really doesn't matter. It shouldn't require more than a minimal sleep time..

Hello RandySea,

Greetings

Kindly follow these steps:

Open Windows Settings and go to the "Accounts" option.
On the left side, press "Sign-In Options."
The setting "Require Sign-In" is the one you're looking for.
In the drop-down menu, select to lock pc.

Hope this helps

Regards,

I had "require sign in" checked, but didn't realize there were timing options, zero to 15 minutes. I changed mine from 15 minutes (the default?) to zero and now shutting the lid immediately works to require sign-in. Thank you.
