X1 Carbon AC Adapter Loose Piece

2013-11-30, 17:16 PM

Hi,

I have an X1 Carbon. I recently had trouble plugging the AC adapter into the laptop. On closer inspection, I noticed that a piece of the AC Adapter port from the computer was loose and lodged in the AC adapter plug. I have included a picture. Now every time I plug in my computer I have to use tweezers to remove the piece from the ac adapter and put it back in the computer. Anyone else having this problem?

Thanks,

Daniel

Do you know if Lenovo will fix this for free? I have had the computer for over a year, but I had to send it back in six months ago because the motherboard was fried. I had the same problem with the broken piece then, but it came back repaired so I assume the AC adapter port on the computer is attached to the motherboard. If this is the case, then they should cover the repair since the motherboard was replaced within the past year. At least I'd hope so...

If the motherboard isn't fried, they can just replace the power connector. It is a separate piece, and is in with a bunch of miscellaneous parts. I've had this happen twice now....

I believe the part number is FRU 04W3914, MISC BASE KIT. This is based off their hardware manual here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/guides-and-manuals/detail.page?DocID=UM015748
