Re: X1 Carbon - Driver Sierra Wireless EM7345 ?

Hi, jkueng

What's the OS installed on your laptop? For win8/8.1 there are no needs for drivers if the card is in MBIM mode. It must work natively in OS.

Let's check it. Look at the Device Manager, open Network Adapters item. You should see something with AiarCard. Open Properties, Details tab, pull down Options list, find out an item Compatible ID. Looks like USB\Class_xx&SubClass_xx&Prot_xx). Copy the values and past here. Will look.

Also, could you, please, post here USB IDs of this card? Find it at the same list under Hardware ID item (looks like VID_xxxx&PID_xxxx).

Re: X1 Carbon - Driver Sierra Wireless EM7345 ?

I installed Windows 7 Pro x64, because the X1 will be part of our domain network and at the moment we don't use windows 8/8.1 in the company network.

I have the "Sierra Wireless EM7345 4G LTE" under unknown devices. Called already Lenovo, but they are not really helpful, because they told me "the driver is on the lenovo page", but there is only a driver for Sierra Wireless EM7355 and this driver is not compatible with the EM7345. The other thing they told me was "use the preload", but the preload was Win8 and as I said already - we just use Win7 in our company network.

In device manager I have the following information:

- compatible ID: USB/Class_02&SubClass_0d&Prot_00

- hardware id: usb/vid_1199&PID_A001&REV_1729&MI_00

- compatible ID: USB/Class_02&SubClass_0d&Prot_01

- hardware id: usb/vid_1199&PID_A001&REV_1729&MI_02

Re: X1 Carbon - Driver Sierra Wireless EM7345 ?

I have th exact same issue on the t440s with sierra wan card.

Company runs win7 and installs this on every single machine in the domain. The driver listed on lenovos pages is for EM7355, but win7 recognize the card as EM7345 and it doesnt work with the driver listed.

Since t440 and x1 carbon for that matter, is a "buisness" laptop, a LOT of machines willbe installed with win7 and this will become a major issue.

I have the same ID info on my t440s as jkueng.

Re: X1 Carbon - Driver Sierra Wireless EM7345 ?

I get the driver from a guy from Lenovo ...

I have uploaded it ... http://www.workupload.com/file/OcNZT33Q

unfortunately the page is in german - you have to click on "Herunterladen"

hope that helps ... the guy from Lenovo told me that this is a known issue and they will provide the driver on the lenovo webpage ... but he doesn't know when ...

Re: X1 Carbon - Driver Sierra Wireless EM7345 ?

jkueng, nice to see that

thans for upload. Hope it'll help you and other guys with em7345 under win7.

em7345 and em7355 are different cards, based on the different platorms, Intel vs Qualcomm respectively. So, it's the reason of drivers incompatibility.

Also, would you, please to check some information regarding your card under win7 after new drivers installation?

1. launch Device Manager, pull down menu item View, select Devices by connection

2. expand the items one by one (the same or something like):

- ACPI x64 PC

- Microsoft ACPI System

- PCI Bus

- Intel USB Host Controller (both of them)

- USB root Hub

- Generic USB Hub

- AirCard (Sierra?) ...

How many AirCard items do you see? What are they?

Re: X1 Carbon - Driver Sierra Wireless EM7345 ?

I don't see "AirCard" if I select Devices by connection ...

I just see the card in the standard view ... and then I see the following:

- Network adapters:

  • Sierra Wireless EM7345 4G LTE

- Sensors:

  • Sierra Wireless GNSS Sensor EM7345 4G LTE

and luckily no unknown devices! Smiley Happy

Re: X1 Carbon - Driver Sierra Wireless EM7345 ?

Perfectly!

thanks

The card could have several ports, devices under different items so I asked you to view those.

Now you have:
- properly installed card
- the card most likely is in MBIM mode as other preinstalled cards in systems under win8 like your one (to ensure that you have to view Compatible ID item as described below)
- bonus: Smiley Happy the card supports GPS ang Glonass sensors via win platform Location&Sensors.

I'd recommend you to use newest version of Lenovo Acess Connections manager as it supports em7345.
