We have a brand new X1 Carbon where I work, and we bought the Ethernet adapter USB 2.0 to use cable connection. We use Win7 x64.
The thing is, we cannot get it to work. I've tried the following:
- downloaded drivers software for the adapter via lenovo.com / uninstalled drivers and tried again
- updated BIOS
- used the troubleshooting for network connections
The adapter is just not visible -ANYWHERE- on the computer. Not under Device Manager or under network connections.. only wifi as far as the eye can see.
Any idea what I'm missing here? Could it be adapter itself is faulty? It's brand new, right out of the box from Lenovo.

Are the system USB drivers updated?
Are you using the USB 2.0 or 3.0 port?
If 3.0, is 3.0 enabled in BIOS?
If all else fails, call support and have it replaced.
Let them know it is an out-of-box issue and never worked.
