Just curious, I am also experiencing this random shutdown. Does your power button light also blink rapidly?

Has anyone had any luck with troubleshooting this? Seems like quite a few of us are experiencing this.

Re: X1 Carbon Gen 7 regularly mistakes empty battery and shuts down

I had checked my windows system logs, apparently eventhough my laptop's lid was closed, the system came out of sleep mode...

My system went into sleep at 10:20am and then came out of sleep under 10:51am. The lid is definitely closed, as it was in my bagpack.

Could someone check what version of Lenovo Power Manager you have? I had v10.0.088.00, but just upgraded to v10.0.106.00. Not sure if it's relevant. I've just upgraded mine and will monitor.

Thanks.

Re: X1 Carbon Gen 7 regularly mistakes empty battery and shuts down

I disconnected and reconnected the battery and the issues hasn't re-appeared. I had previously been experiencing this same issue multiple times a day. It's been seven days and I haven't had the issue.

Here's exactly what I did, however, I would only recommed doing so if you're completely comfortable servicing your own laptop.

From Windows 10...

Settings... Update & Security... Recovery... Restart Now (under Advanced Startup)

From Advanced Startup menu, select... Troubleshoot... Advanced Options... UEFI Firmware Settings... Restart

From BIOS menu... Config... Power... Disable Built-in Battery... Shutdown.

Unscrew the underside of the laptop to access the battery.  Remove the screws securing the Li-Ion battery and disconnect it.  Re-connect the battery after about 20 sec and re-assemble.  Be sure to power-on the laptop with the AC adapter connected to re-enable the battery.

Can you clarify where to disconnect the battery? Without unscrewing the battery, it looks like there is a cable connected to the main board that I thought was the one. Is the real connector underneath the battery?

There's a single cable connecting the battery to the main board.  I unscrewed the battery, disconnected it, being very careful, as the mainboard connector seems fragile and I reconnected it.

No difference to the above. Looks like it might be battery afterall... I'll give cruz0031's suggestion a try....

Please try this new BIOS just posted, 1.26/1.12 for X1C7 and X1Y4 "Fixed an issue where system enter hibernation suddenly due to critical low battery status detected wrongly.". Report back :-).

USB-C: Just cos it fits don't mean it works.
