X1 Carbon Gen 9 turn on by itself

2021-04-22, 23:16 PM

As the title suggests, for whatever reason, the laptop will occasionally turn on by itself. That is from a shutdown state. Does anyone know what would be the cause?

I should also mention that I'm connecting the laptop to a TB3 eGPU with a few extra ports.

It's possible this is due to Microsoft Modern Standby, which is the state the laptop goes into by default when you shut it down. Modern Standby is not a complete "shutdown" - the laptop is in a connected standby state, still doing background updates, and wakes up really fast when you need it (I really like this). To shut down completely, hold down the Shift key when you click on Shut Down.

USB-C: Just cos it fits don't mean it works.

In the bios, under config/power, there are options to start at a specific date/time
