X1 Carbon Model 3444-2DU Trackpad and Trackpoint

2012-12-17, 0:18 AM

Hello all, my X1 Carbon is acting up. Trackpoint and Trackpad are not working together after a week of use. However after reading some threads the only way I could get the Trackpoint to work was to disable the Trackpad via "Enter" when the computer boots up (Bios Menu). I've tried everything now, uninstalling drivers and installing new ones, rebooting laptop from factory. The only way for the laptop to have any control over the mouse cursor is through the Trackpoint by disabling the Trackpad which is annoying to just know that the pad doesn't work. Any solution? Help!

if this is the case, then you should call up Lenovo and ask for repair or replacement. The Trackpad buttons must be acting up or there is a shortcircuit somewhere in the trackpad circuitry.

Man thats hard to hear, I hate having to send something in for repair. The weird thing is everything works except for the Trackpad. Together they don't work, but if I do disable the trackpad through the bios menu then the trackpoint and buttons work. Is this really a hardware issue?

this is a typical sign of a trackpad that has a shortcurcuit in the click mechanism.

This is like if i held down the left button of my trackpad button, but at the same time trying to click on the left button of my trackpoint. This will cause my left click from the trackpoint to be ignored.

When you disable the trackpad in the bios, you are telling the computer to ignore the signal coming from the trackpad button. Thus it is free to accept the left click signal from the trackpoint button.

Ah I see thanks for the replies, however its the buttons as well as the whole pad (cannot even move cursor with the pad) are not functioning, does this mean the whole pad is malfunctioning? the overall touch and click of it?

Hey there Altezza300,

I think Jin Li may be right, It seems it would be best to contact Lenovo support at this time to see if a replacement/repair needs to be done. The support number to call is 1-800-426-7378. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Regards,

George
