X1 Carbon - PXE Boot

Got my new X1 Carbon and  I am really happy with it.

I want to deploy the company image to my X1C Via SCCM.

Currently we deploy VIA PXE Boot, but  with the X1C not having a NIC we are going to have an issue.

I can deploy an image Via USB, but I will not have network connectivity unit the builds it complete and I start using a usb docking station.  Very messy for the guys how will be doing the builds.   Is there a USB NIC available that support PXE booting?  or does anyone have any less messy ideas on implementation.

We are looking at getting 200 units so  I need as little pain as possible..

Re: X1 Carbon - PXE Boot

Yes there is a USB ethernet dongle that supports PXE booting.

The Lenovo part number is 0A36322.

Re: X1 Carbon - PXE Boot

A) You really got your X1 Carbon? You are like the first I've heard actually got it. Most of us are tapping are feet waiting for it to ship.

B) Didn't it come with the USB to Ethernet Dongle in the Box?

Re: X1 Carbon - PXE Boot

Can someone verify that the Lenovo USB adapter ( Part Number: 0A36322) works with an X1 Carbon in a pxe boot scenario?

I can't seem to get a PCI LAN option to show up as a boot option during startup with two different USB ethernet adapters.

We are using a Dell KACE appliance to netboot our Lenovo laptops. Must get this working!

Yes, it will work.  I have personally done it, and this is also how the Lenovo factory is booting the systems in order to preload them.

Other USB-ethernet dongles will not PXE boot.  The BIOS does not have the option ROM support for any other adapter.

Re: X1 Carbon - PXE Boot

tagcarlos, you received your X1 Carbon and you're in Oakland California? Was your estimated ship and delivery date accurate when you received it?

Thanks

Is the part number above, the PXE boot capable USB Ethernet dongle the part that ships with each X1 Carbon?
