X1 Carbon - USB port not working

I was doing the updates using the System Update tool from Lenovo when all of a sudden my USB Ethernet dongle stopped working. I quickly checked the other USB port, the dongle worked fine there. So a mouse and USB thumb drive later I've determined the port is dead... I know it's not a driver issue as I'm unable to boot from a thumb drive from that port, it's just not detected. I am running the latest BIOS.

Anyone have any ideas? If not, I'm probably going to request a refund. I've had this laptop for less than 24 hours, I'm not too thrilled about the filter on the screen (I did do extensive research and did read about the screen, but it's not until you actually see it that you can see just how bad it is... which is a shame, because it does prevent almost all glare and doesn't attract fingerprints) and now a USB port has failed. My battery life is also less than appealing, it's gone from 25% to 13% in 40 minutes while the laptop has been idling and the screen turned off.
