Re: X1 Carbon Won't Power on After Sleep

I am using BIOS 1.10 from 8/13/2015 (I don't see a BIOS 1.11 in system update).

This issue seems to have gotten worse for me.  I am finding that after going to sleep my (Windows 7) X1 Gen3 often is stuck at a black screen and won't come out of sleep.  The power button and Fn button are lite.  I have to hard reboot.

I ran an extended diagnostic on my system and it did not find any issues.

Re: X1 Carbon Won't Power on After Sleep

Did anyone else get a Private Message from a Lenovo employee asking if they still had the issue?

Seems a bit strange instead of actually posting in the thread, Lenovo...

Yes Lenovo, I still have this issue and after each bios update and I believe randomly I have to go back into the bios and disable Intel Rapid Start Technology. This really sucks b/c it means my laptop does not have the standby time advertised.

Re: X1 Carbon Won't Power on After Sleep

I have not been contacted, but I still have the issue.  I believe it is related to the WWAN add-in card in my X1 Gen3 laptop.  Possibly made worse since I am using Windows 7.

My laptop will sometimes hard freeze in Windows.

And sometimes go to sleep (black screen) and then not come out of it. I assume it just hard froze while asleep.

I'm still having the same issue. No longer a huge deal , I'm replacing my machine tomorrow with the X1 Yoga.

It's pretty bad no one from Lenovo has actually said anything on this thread. Only PM's and then they won't reply.

Re: X1 Carbon Won't Power on After Sleep

I noticed that sometimes when System Update runs, BIOS configuration resets and Intel Rapid Start Technology is enabled again. Just disable it to avoid the problem.

Sorry Lenovo, this is just a workaround until you fix the issue.

Re: X1 Carbon Won't Power on After Sleep

In response to customer reports that X1 Carbon (Type 20BS or 20BT) laptops experience unexpected issues coming out of sleep mode, Lenovo is releasing a fix via BIOS N14ET34W

When it is published, it will be available here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/ThinkPad-X-Series-laptops/ThinkPad-X1-...

It will be made available by the end of February.

Thank you,

Thanks Amy!

I'm sure I speak for everyone else experiencing this issue in saying it is a relief to know there is a fix in sight. I appreciate Lenovo responding to this problem.

Re: X1 Carbon Won't Power on After Sleep

Former X1 owner here. I sent it back due to resume from sleep issues.

Current X1 Yoga owner here, does not ever resume from sleep. Blank screen beeps four beeps, three times. Nice!
