X1 Carbon gen 3 fingerprint problem

2019-10-26, 11:16 AM

Fingerprint scanner is not working after windows update april 2019 - Lenovo X1 carbon gen 3..

In device manager I can't see the symbol for Biometric Devices (disappear)-> Synaptic WBDI

I tried updating all the drivers, also uninstallated and reinstalled this particular driver but no luck.

Please help. Thanks.

Welcome to the forums.  Do you see anything for Fingerprint in BIOS?  If you don't, its a hardware problem.  See below post.  Especially the responses by Lenovo employee.  Below is not the only post where he says if there is no hardware detected in BIOS then its a hardware problem.

Tks Green5178 for your post.

But I already had the fingerprint and cable changed by our technician.

I have the same message in the bios as what is explained in the links you suggested to me to read.

My X1 is still under warranty, are there any other parts related to the fingerprint?

Only thing I can think of is either the sensor is bad, the cable or the connection to motheboard?  If its under warranty I would call support and explain that the cable and sensor was replaced already.  As per the other article if its not in BIOS its a hardware fault.
