X1 Carbon left mouse key not reliable

2016-02-29, 18:36 PM

Since November 2015, my keyboard left mouse button does not always work on the first click - most of the time it does not. (would have posted then, but kept getting error when I hit submit)

I disabled the touch pad and only use the trackpoint and it's left and right mouse buttons. The left one is really not working well - I usually have to hit it twice to get the click to go through (whether on web, MS Word, Excel, etc.). I've tried clicking more to the middle instead of the left most edge of it but I don't think it matters where I hit it to click. Sometimes it works and sometimes not.

Any suggestions? Can I take the keyboard off and blow out any dust that may have gotten in there or will that void my warranty? I haven't spilled anything on it. I can't part with it right now for service because I am in the middle of a school semester.

Thanks

kb

p.s. I am on windows 8.1

I can't believe this still has no solutions offered. Nobody else is having this issue? I'm having to use a real keyboard now because that left mouse button is just not reliable.

Which X1 do you have?

Sounds like you may have physical damage to the buttons.  Is your laptop still under warranty?  If so, I would suggest contacting Lenovo directly (i.e. dont mess with the forum).

I have had many problems with my Thinkpads since the x230 series.  Thank goodness none of them have had problems with the mouse buttons.
