X1 Carbon touchpad and trackpad stops working.

Received my new X1 Carbon 2014 this week. After only two minutes of use, the trackpad and toucphpad stopped working.

I hade to use an external mouse, and even after all driver updates it still didn`t work.

If I restart the machine, sometimes the track-touchpad will work, but suddenly it freezes up again (after only minutes of use), and I will have to restart to fix the problem. Have used it for 5 hrs now, and how probably restarted about 30-40 times.

Anyone know what is causing this problem and/or how I can fix it?

Re: X1 Carbon touchpad and trackpad stops working.

does the same problem manifest itself in the BIOS menu?

have you tried doing all the updates through ThinkVantage System Update.

Re: X1 Carbon touchpad and trackpad stops working.

I don`t know what the BIOS menu is Smiley Tongue Or, I kinda know what it is, but now how to access it and how to test whether this problem manifests itself there...

I am new to Windows after 10yrs with Mac OS X.

I have done all the Windows and all the Lenovo updates.

Re: X1 Carbon touchpad and trackpad stops working.

restart the laptop when in Windows menu. When it starts, it would tell you to press Enter to interrupt the bootup.

Then there would be a new menu telling to press F1 to enter bios.

Okay, so I entered the bios, but is the touchpad even in use in bios? Arent`t you only using the keyboard?

Re: X1 Carbon touchpad and trackpad stops working.

sorry my mistake. Not sure what i was thinking.

Instead of going into the BIOS, press F11 after you press the Enter button. F11 gets you into recovery partition, your trackpoint and trackpoint should work there.

Re: X1 Carbon touchpad and trackpad stops working.

I am experiencing the same issue.  The touchpad freezes shrtoyl after logging in.  The external mouse works.  This indicates a possible driver issue.  putting the laptop to sleep and waking it up bring the touchpad back until it freezes again.  going to try Synaptics generic drivers.

Re: X1 Carbon touchpad and trackpad stops working.

I have the same issue too. My X1 Carbon is of type 3443. I bought it in december 2013 and the UltraNav drive is from 2012. This is a seriously annoying problem after spending a fortune!!!

Lenovo - Get me an answer or my money back!

Re: X1 Carbon touchpad and trackpad stops working.

Same issue here.

Bought my X1 carbon 20A7 last month.

The touchpad and trackpoint stop working after a while. Sometimes after minutes of use, sometimes after half an hour. When I close the lid, to let it go to sleep, and wake it up again they both work again. Another interesting (might be a coincedance) issue is that when I wake the laptop up after this has ocurred, the fingerprint reader does not work to log back on.

I have done a fresh install of windows 8.1 and updated all windows and Lenovo drivers.

I hope this gets solved quickly. It's kind of ridiculous for such a premium laptop.

Lenovo?
