Re: X1 EXTREME G1 - BIOS UPDATE 1.22 - SUPERVISOR PASSWORD BROKEN

Hello.

You should use this link to report the issue: https://www.managedtechnicalsupportaccess.com/mtsarva/lenovo.html

They are aware of the root cause of the problem and they replaced my motherboard on-site.

Re: X1 EXTREME G1 - BIOS UPDATE 1.22 - SUPERVISOR PASSWORD BROKEN

My X1 yoga 1st gen is still not fixed. When I call lenovo they transfer to endless calls. I'm so dissappointed  and I regret updating the bios while my pc was working proparly. Worse part is my laptop is still under thinkplus warranty.

Re: X1 EXTREME G1 - BIOS UPDATE 1.22 - SUPERVISOR PASSWORD BROKEN

I just updated my Thinkpad P1 to 1.23, but I still cannot enter the BIOS.

I get prompter for my fingerprint, which takes me to the password screen, and then that doesn't work.

Did they set a default password or something? Any clues? Are all the machines that ever updated to 1.22 just paperweights now?

Re: X1 EXTREME G1 - BIOS UPDATE 1.22 - SUPERVISOR PASSWORD BROKEN

Hello.

I think that BIOS v.1.23 just fixed the bug but did not resolve the issue for users that had a BIOS Admin password and already updated to v.1.22 (that's what happened to me).

In my case, Lenovo replaced the motherbard on my P1. Fortunately I have on-site support and the technician came to my office.

They are fully aware of the problem.

My suggestion would be to open a ticket, describe the problem (include a link to this thread) and ask them to replace your motherboard if everything else has failed.

That's a shame, I only have depot support, and I can't afford to be a week or who knows how long without my laptop.

Re: X1 EXTREME G1 - BIOS UPDATE 1.22 - SUPERVISOR PASSWORD BROKEN

My saga which started on 5/21 ended on Friday  8/16 when I finally received my replacement system.

Lenovo replaced it with an equivalent Gen 2, unfortunately I lost the touchscreen as the 4k touchscreen Gen 2 is not out yet. but did gain a faster processor and GPU.

I will be careful about updating my BIOS in the future, lesson learned - I will wait at least 3 days next time a new BIOS is released.
