X1 Extreme - Bios breaks dock

I've seen a few posts about this already without a solution.  Just wanted to chime in my X1 Extreme was working great until Lenovo asked me to install a bios update. After the update my Thunderbolt 3.0 dock stopped working.  I've tried:

  • Power cycle dock and unplug/plug cables in different orders
  • New cables
  • Both ports on laptop
  • Turning Thunderbolt Security to no security in BIOS
  • Updating manually to 1.19 bios
  • Installing dock drivers (my model is 40AC, doesn’t have firmware update)
  • Trying separate dock, USB-C model
  • Verifying docks work with my other laptop (T580) successfully
  • Screaming at the laptop

Pretty disappointed in Lenovo at this point.  I'll be disabling their Lenovo Vantage software after this and only manually updating from here out when I feel it necessary.  What a disaster this would be if I had rolled this model out to other users in my environment.

My setup:

X1 Extreme Model 20MF000QUS with dock Thunderbolt 3.0 model 40AC.

What's DOS?

Re: X1 Extreme - Bios breaks dock

Same experience with a couple of T470 and TB 3.0 in our environment.
I wonder when Lenovo wakes up and have an answer to this...
