X1 Extreme Gen 1, No Power

2021-02-09, 0:48 AM

My computer turned off on it's own, and won't power back on. Both the charging light and the power button light won't illuminate. We have a few of the Gen 1s around the office, so we checked the SSD, Ram, and AC Adapter in a known working system. They all worked, so we ensured everything attached properly, and still no power. We used the CMOS reset button, and disconnected and reconnected the CMOS battery. We used different hardware, and still no power.

Then randomly the computer turned on, so I let my back up finish on the computer. I shut the computer down to restart it again (stupid), and it wouldn't turn on again. I repeated the steps above (minus the hardware tests), and I was not able to turn the computer back on. If anyone could help, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your time!

I have referenced all of the available posts in the forums. None of the troubleshooting seems to help me. I'm waiting on Lenovo right now, so trying to troubleshoot in the meantime.

Out of curiosity has it been off for a while? Had a similar thing happen to an X1 that was sitting for a few weeks and would not power on after multiple troubleshooting steps. Left on the charger for a few hours and then turned on and never had the issue again. Still don't know what the exact issue was, maybe it was some kind of a a deep hibernation mode.

When you left it on the charger, did you have any lights on the system?

Thanks for the reply.

No lights came on at the time, I thought it was an issue with the battery, but eventually it charged and powered on. Have you been able to check main battery status?
