X1 Extreme Gen 2 Slow and has mouse lag scrolling through Facebook and Gaming

2019-12-25, 6:46 AM

I have the i7 9850H with 32 Gb Ram and 1 Tb SSD. 4K OLED
I updated all my drivers and my problem still persists. The laptop slows down and get a really bad input lag when I'm playing PubG on all setting very low 1080p. I will run around the map and look around after about 1 minute I will get terrible input lag that can stack up to 10 seconds. All my actions in the game will start to take one second to register then it will progress to almost 10 seconds for all actions(keyboard input) and wired mouse input. I also get a similar problem just scrolling down through facebook with the arrow keys, it will just keep scrolling through facebook even though I stopped pressing down for up to 10 seconds again. I can stop the scrolling by grabbing the scroll bar with the mouse and the response is instant in that case scrolling up or down. I tried everything except re-installing windows. I can't be the only person with this problem. Even typing right now I just experinced input lag. Please Help.

I checked the thermals while playing and at most the reach 82C and the max processing power was 85%.

Hi !

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums.

When did the issue start? Did the issue occurs out of the box?

Kindly perform a power drain by unplugging the charger, holding down the power button for at least 30 seconds, waiting for a minute or two and reconnecting the charger, then power on the laptop.

If the issue persists, let's perform a clean boot where it starts with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your laptop. Please follow the steps here.

Hope these helps.

Regards,

The Issue was out of the box, which at first I thought was just some driver issue but once I jumped through all the hoops I realized I might have another lemon.

The power drain helped with playing in very low settings in 1080p so I steped it up to 4k very low settings and the problem is still there. I then did a clean restart only leaving the intel programs for the clean restart and the problem is still there. What next?

Also when I unplug from the power and plug into the power the monitor turns off for a couple seconds and any video that may be playing cuts out as well. Is that normal? I know it's not on any other laptop I ever owned.

If your power plans have different refresh rates for AC and battery operation this is normal.  The monitor (if we're talking about the laptop's display) requires a moment to adjust to the rate change.

Also I'm getting lag watching Netflix and other streaming services. The audio will fall out of sync.
