Re: X1 Extreme Gen 2 missing keystrokes

2019-11-22, 0:24 AM

Hello Jwes, thanks for looking this up. The keystrokes miss only with the built-in keyboard, I have been using external USB keyboard and haven't got any misses with that. Today I tried in Safe Mode and I could not get it to miss a keystroke but I was testing in Notepad because Word was unable in Safe Mode. I will try BIOS tomorrow to see what happens in there but as I'm writing this message I have missed few keys. I have newest version of BIOS 1.27.

Thanks a lot. Disabling USB selective suspend FIXED my x1e keyboard problem in Windows 10.

I to am on BIOS version 1.27. I'm on the version of Windows that released recently, but it happened before too. I haven't tried in safe mode...I don't know how to test this in bios, there's no place to be typing lots of text there.

Disabling USB selective suspend doesn't fix the issue at all. The problem remains the same. Given that users say this happens in Linux too, I don't think this is an OS issue. It's likely firmware or hardware...

You are right. After extensive test, I think the problem is not completely solved after disabling USB suspend options. But I do feel that the probability of keystroke loss is much less than with this option enabled.

The link you've given Jwes doesn't work.

How can we test this in bios? There's no way to properly type text in bios.

The Jwes's link does not work because it has a dot in the end of the hyperlink, it should work if you remove that dot. I could not find any way to test typing in BIOS so no luck with that. Then I tried Safe Mode with command prompt and had misses there and finally I tried in i basic Safe Mode and got misses there too. As for me it is very consistent with letter H like if I type letters H and I with index and middle finger it misses very often. Here is an example from Word where I got it miss H two times. "hihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihiihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihiihihihihi"

One thing I did notice when I test typed H and other letters that the mouse cursor was hovering slightly because my finger was touching the TrackPoint but that might be a long shot. The keyboard is very random and feels like somedays it works better and some days it's worse. I missed only one space and one W when writing this message.

Sorry about the link but it should work now. Those who are experiencing the lagging of key inputs for a period of time can boot to BIOS and check if the function keys are having the same problem. For us to forward this to the right folks, we will be needing the Machine Type Model or MTM, Windows 10 build version, BIOS version and the EC version.
