Just mentioned it as one of the reasons, besides this keyboard problem, to return the notebook.

End of discussion.

I just want to chime in onemore time to reiterate that letter replacement is real. I had it happen right in front of me, while lookng at what I'm typing. And it was a kind where the swap was not between two nearby letter, so you could call it a mistype. Somehign is swapping letters like "s" and "b", etc.

I've never encountered anything like this. There is something in the firmware that is agressively intercepting the key presses, and it's too slow to catch up with averake wpm typing. I will say it loud and clear: whatever it is I hope it's not logging them or worse, sending them anywhere!

(Highlighted in red are missed keystrokes. Highlighted in green are swapped keys.)

Hello, does anyone know how to return a Lenovo laptop bought less then 3 month ago for a full refund? The keyboard issue makes it useless to me, and it seems that Lenovo has no clear timeline on the fix.

Thank you

New to this thread. What's the easiest way to test for the problem?

When typing do you notice that instead of "Hello world" you get "Hell world", "ello world", "Hello wrld" and so on when you know you hit all the keys? If so, welcome to hell.

If not...you're fine.

Just wanted to chime in that I'm also getting this keyboard issue. I just received the machine last week. The issue is usually with h, o, r and enter. I also notice that the middle mouse button is really flakey. When I'm holding it down to scroll, it will often think I've depressed and start moving the mouse rather than scrolling. I mention this because it could be related.

The best way to reproduce it seems to just type for a while.

Re: X1 Extreme Gen 2 missing keystrokes

I want to love this machine.

I really want to:

- The weight / form factor is perfect

- The display is spectacular

- It has a reasonale assortment of ports

- Once tweaked battery life is fine

But... of course none of this matters if you are constantly correcting text as you type.

Initially I thought I was going crazy. Did I really press a key or not?

Maybe I was not clicking the keyboard hard enough?

I then found this forum thread.

My initial setup was Linux, I torched my Windows partition and went 100% Linux. When I contacted support they basically said:

"Go home, Linux is not supported, reproduce this in Windows and then you can open a support request for real."

So I did a full recovery install of Win 10 complete with working vantage and the rest of things. I am typing this reply from my Win 10 setup.

I can confirm that upgrading to N20ET41W (1.28) plus other updates vantage ran improved things somewhat. I disabled the USB thing.

That said, this issue still pops up all the time, especially when I start typing in a textarea. There may be some interplay going on with the CPU usage on the machine, I don't know.

All I know is that as stuff stands I feel like returning this machine, the major reason I picked Lenovo over Dell was the keyboard. Yet here we are and despite how wonderful these keys feel, forgetting keys makes this way worse than inferior hardware that has correct software driving it.

This is the result of me dragging my finger from q to p quickly:

In this case, apart from the keyboard problem, the battery life is promoted as "14 hours" on the Webpage. The 4K IPS doesn't last even 3.

Off topic, but I think I can get 6-8 hours out of this laptop, requires some tuning. 14 hours though is rediculous, there is no way you can get this down to 5.7w power draw, I have seen 9w on some kernels with earlier bioses, at the moment I get about 11-13w.
