Re: X1 Extreme Gen 2 missing keystrokes

My i7/OLED X1E2 got a replacement keyboard installed by a Lenovo technician today - no improvement regarding lost keypresses. Both keyboards had the Dolby logo on it.

i hope lenovo come up with a solution in short times, it's so frustrating and not tolerable for such an expensive device.

I want to share that today tuesday 01-21, I haven't seen too many missing keystrokes. Strange.

I was able to write a very long e-mail without misses, only a few mispells.

Strange.

This issue seems to come and go for me, seemingly without cause.   I will be experiencing a blissful computing experience for what seems like long enough to declare the machine is great, then it starts up again.    No rhyme or reason, just here one second, gone the next.

I was told on the service line today that some technicians are already aware of this thread, but this hasn't been escalated to a "known issue" yet. They acknowledged that I am not the first one who called because of this issue but it seems to only happen to a small subset of devices.

Re: X1 Extreme Gen 2 missing keystrokes

I would say that the number of devices with the problem is much larger, but most of the owners do not complain. I know of at least two other x1e2 owners with the same problem, and they did not contact the support, not have they posted to this forum. :(

I would say that the main issue with this problem is - it is random. And it does not happen all the time, so I guess it is difficult to diagnose. It is as if the keyboard sometimes does not generate interrupts, that is how it feels to me. I am blind typing and while I type I am looking at the monitor, and I know I pressed a key, but it just does not show on the screen, which slows down my typing. Very annoying. But the issue has been reported on this forum months ago, and it should've been solved by now, but it isn't. I sort of wish I bought the p53 but I am afraid what if those have the same issue with the keyboard (or possibly some other issues), as this thread is not very reassuring in Lenovo's ability to fix the problems :(

Yesterday I wasn't having too many keystrokes missing...

But today the notebook is horrible. 2 or even 3 keystrokes missing at a once.

Not even a restart. Only Notebook went to standby at night.

What's going on? Is this Hardware or Software related? Maybe is a Keylogger...

This is the exact same response Apple provided on their butterfly keyboards. Keyboards now legendary by how bad they were (or still are, as they only being replaced starting this year). I hope this will not be the same story for us who bought these laptops.

I too have the missing keystrokes - mostly P, N, M, B, T, R - but it can be any letter.

I have submitted one ticket, but I did not want to send the laptop in for repair until I know the problem is fixed by the repair.

I think I should call in another ticket.

Add me to the list of people experiencing the issue of missing keystrokes (especially the spacebar). I'm running a P1 Gen2.
