Re: X1 Extreme Gen 2 missing keystrokes

I can also confirm that the trial firmware does NOT solve the problem (in my case P1). But at least for me it didn't make it worse. I have similar number of missed keystrokes.

@Joloriquelme, the problem is that I don't think it is a matter of a few days...we thought the same back then in November-December. We are already in February and Lenovo has kept silent for these 2-3 months, no updates, no solution, no acknowledgement, etc...hard to believe they are going to resolve any time soon a problem they are not even officially acknowledging...

Re: X1 Extreme Gen 2 missing keystrokes

I understand why some people are angry and while I'm at risk at being called a shill or worse I will say that I will hold off for Lenovo to publish the driver fix before getting too upset over this. Also, my situation is that I had a completely mesed up system that was replaced in 30 days purchase period, so missing keystrokes issue is comparatively minor to the problem I had before. I also got the laptop during Thanksgiving promotion period so that also plays a role in me having more patience I guess.

My experience with Chinese companies is that they are messy but eventually they will get it done, if you are patient enough (key word, I know). I'm reading it here that there are attempts at fixing BIOS so that's all I ask to be honest. Even if it takes more than one try. Time to do it is actually long on the other hand. So I do understand that some other people would prefer more communication here but it might be a cultural/liability/time management thing that they afraid of and thus are not putting priority on it.

Again, sorry all who think I'm a Lenovo apologist and I hope BIOS update and an actual fix will come sooner rather than later.

I understand your viewpoint but I totally disagree. I am sorry but when I spend 2-3K on a top laptop, a flagship machine for Lenovo, the least I expect is for it to be flawless, and if not (I understand unexpecte thing may happen) that the company I bought it from does absolutely everything they can to get the issue solved ASAP. And I am sorry but I am not seeing this latter thing. I refuse to believe that a company as big as Lenovo after 4 months since this bursted (October) they are not able at least to acknowledge the problem and have a top priority to solve it or at least keep us users/buyers updated and reassured. They have absolutely failed in doing so, so yes, I am extremely disappointed and upset about the way Lenovo is hadling this. I ran out of patiente long ago.

I don't know if anyone posted anything regarding this, but here it goes. I contacted Lenovo support and Vantage is not giving this firmware update at all. It helped a little on my end (not enough, but little :D), would wish to hear other thoughts too:

TrackPoint Firmware Update Utility for Windows 10 (64-bit) - ThinkPad

Has anyone tried this? I might be imagining things but I haven't missed a single key since I installed it. (Also applied the BIOS setting mentioned in this thread which didn't help on its own). I have been working a full day today. This is so weird.

@Darrsol,

I hear you. As I said, I just might be too happy for not having a completely unusable machine I guess.

Unfortunately with how the stuff is being designed and built last decade or so, it's becoming a game of spending too much money on a thing that sucks the least...

Disabled the Intel SGX setting.

@MK- Agree, about last decade... Millennial engineers or simply marketing rather the engineering...
Probably Apple is the only more or less trustworthy brand in our days...
Even IBM Lenovo famous keyboards in premium laptop they can not implement without issues...

I don't know if I would agree about Apple being a trustworthy brand. I have had far more issues with Apple laptops than Lenovo laptops.
