The Lenovo employee will PM the download link and installation procedure.

I think they will select people from those who have reported their machine details to Lenovo (if you read through all the pages you know that Lenovo asked for machine information via PM some time ago).

Re: X1 Extreme Gen 2 missing keystrokes

I gave my info back in December.  Haven't heard anything from them.  I have missing keystrokes, but not as bad as some seem here. Kinda excited for the testing to be done so they can release a fix.

I hope the EC firmware helps with the mouse clicks. I have the worst time left clicking to select text. If I go too fast (like every other computer I've owned) it will select half the text. I believe it is all linked to the same poor handling of input that is too quick.

Well, after a day with few usage, I can say that the new firmware improves the situation.

In fact, it turns the keys more responsive. You can feel it, like the keyboard was an external one.

At the moment I had only a few missed keystrokes, but it works better for sure.

Don't know why, but reinstalled the official BIOS and then reflashed the new one applies the fix, not before.

Also:

- I have re-set the SGX to "Software controlled"

- Re-enabled the USB selective suspend

And the keyboard still works better than before.

So, it looks promising. Tomorrow monday will be an interesting day because I have lot of work to do. We will see.

@yaokong: I'm pretty sure I've also had the Ctrl issue when trying to copy-paste using keyboard shortcuts and if copy didn't work I only find out after pasting if it pasted what I wanted or something I copied earlier. This especially sucks when copying files instead of text. Or if accidentally having some personal message/info pasted into wrong place.

Re: X1 Extreme Gen 2 missing keystrokes

Last week, I recieved my replacement unit, thanks to a very helpful case manager.   The entire support process has been a disaster otherwise, I had ordered my unit during the black friday sale, due to its late shipping arrival, it didn't arrive until after the refund/replace window, and due to oversight, it went into the repair depot and additionally was forgotten about.

The new unit, had improved but noticible missed key strokes, the firmware versions as follows:

UFEI BIOS VERSION N20ET41W (1.28)
UEFI BIOS Date2019-11-25
Embedded Controller Version
N20HT32W (1.19)
System board serial number W1KS9C611GP

I'm unsure what my refund/return window is on this newest unit is... I really like the laptop otherwise, but the keyboard has to work... I'm trying to see if she is able to add me to the firmware testing group, i don't want to have to return the laptop, but unfortunatly, I'll have to depending on my refund options.  The machine simply costs too much to not be able to input keys accurately.

So what is your verdict? Also, where did you get the firmware?

Sit rep:

The situation is really improved. But it's not definitely solved.

But, sadly, I think that is because this keyboard has a poor quality.

There are two separate problems:

a) The signal issues with the EC Firmware, that can be resolved with an update
b) The phisical bad quality of the keyboard: when you press some keys on the edge or border without much force, you can clearly see that the press is ignored

I don't know if b) can be resolved via Software, or if my keyboard has some troubles. Maybe even a) can have an more optimized version.

Conclusion: situation improved, but not fixed. Needs more testing, a better update, or even a keyboard recall.
