Re: X1 Extreme Gen 2 missing keystrokes

Sadly, I spoke too soon:

Today I am having multiple keystrokes missing. Don't know how, but situation worsened from one day to another.

I have installed a new Thermal managment driver launched today, but I don't think it's related.

Finl conclusion: problem not solved at all. Sme issues happening.

This is a good summary of what I'm experiencing and I can definitely confirm the B) situation.

Edit - the B) situation is where the corner of the key is pressed and becomes flush to the keyboard tray but doesn't register a key stroke/press. Example, pressing the left corner of O will definitely demonstrate this.

Sit rep:

Issues continue with the EC update, There is an improvement over writing speed, but missing keystrokes persist.

As I said, it's a combination of things. And really can't believe Lenovo still sells this Notebook knowing this issue.

I can relate to the keyboard button edge issue or whatever you wan't to call it. I can press all they keys from one edge and it does not register although I can see the whole button is bottoming. that might play a big role on the issue when typing fast.

Even if I'm following this thread since a while now, I've just decided to post to add my own experience with the missing keystrokes problem.

I own a X1 extreme gen 2 (bought at the beginning of January) and I'm experiencing the issue both in Windows and in Linux,

I'm not writing long texts for the moment so I can't clearly judge the severity, but I'm noticing missing keystrokes at least 3 or 4 times per hour just while browsing and typing small texts on telegram.

As a reference the laptop missed a key twice while typing this text.

I really hope that the Lenovo is going to fix the problem really soon, that's just unacceptable on a flagship 2000$+ laptop.

I think it's outrageous that you had to find some special state of the unit in order for it to function properly. I have the same Thinkpad, as of 1 week ago. For the price I paid, one should not have to find a circuitous way to have it work. Is there a recall on it yet? I, for one, have had my thrill of getting a powerful laptop quashed beyond redemption. I know there will be plenty of other problems to face, but a malfunctioning keyboard off the bat, takes the cake. I suppose its not false advertising, because Lenovo never said I purchased "a working" Thinkpad Extreme Gen 2.

Re: X1 Extreme Gen 2 missing keystrokes

I have called the salesman who recomended  the X1 Gen2 after my custom build order was cancelled because they couldn't get parts for it anymore. I have emailed him. I see this as almost false advertising....when one purchases a high end laptop, that is not used, there is an understanding between purchaser and seller that the unit arrives in working condition.

When I peruse the myriads of posts wherein other X1Gen2 owners spend their own time trying to fix a defective product, I find myself wondering what happened in America that you think you have to fix your purchase by yourself.

If you bought a car and the steering wheel did not work, would all these persons be trying to fix it themselves? No, they would take it back to the seller, and demand a car with a working steering wheel, eh?

You are so right. I am outraged at so many persons trying to fix a defective product with their own time!  I have got to send mine back. I have no Lenovo rep in my town, though. Thanks for your common sense.

Lenovo -- would you at least respond to acknowledge this issue ?
