Re: X1 Extreme Gen 2 missing keystrokes

Today Lenovo sent me a new Firmware update.

No major improvement. Like I said before, I think this is a combination of problem between Hardware and Software.

The keyboard may have a signal interference, that could be resolved by these firmware updates. But it's a fact for me that the keyboard have a poor and weak pressing sensitivity, specially on the key borders (specially for me on the a, s, d). And frankly I don't know if this could be fixable by Software updates.

When you 'punch' the keys, like you are writing on a typing machine, you barely notice a missed key with this firmware update. But, when you relax a little bit, the problem appears.

I recorded a couple of videos to show the pressing sensitivity on the edges.

I will post it later.

I have also noticed something lse. Now I see more frequently 2 consecutive keystrokes being missed. In the past I saw this but very rarely. Now it is much more frequent. Also, I still get the missing keystrokes even when hitting hard and in the middle of the keys, so yes, it could hae some hardware problem, bu to me it is mostly firmware issue. Another thing I have been noticing lately is that the problem seems to get worse when on battery. It can happen anytime but now that I am mostly on battery the problem is much worse.

I am having also the 2 consecutive keystrokes being missed.

These are the videos:

- The first one shows that, when you press on the left edge of the S key, two or three keystrokes are missing.
- The second one shows that when you press on the center, the keystrokes are correct. But, when you again press on the left edge, again a last keystroke is missing at the end of the test.

I introduced my bloody keyboard (see highlights above) to the forum almost 3 months ago, so I wanted to provide an update. I ?ly used the built-in keyboard in these 3 months, as I mostly keep this machine docked. Now I did a systematic test in Windows: pressing each alphanumeric key 2^5 times (with my bare hands), adding a space between each stroke and starting a new line when switching keys. Surprisingly, no keystroke has been missed in 32x47 strokes, see the results here. I will rinse (boot into linux) and repeat.

I think we should all submit a service ticket at the same time. Maybe lenovo will see all of our same problems at the same time and take notice.

That is what I suggest: we should keep submitting tickets and have service come by constantly. This will cost a lot in service hours and will probably trigger something somewhere.

Please take some time and read the conversation; you will see that Lenovo has participated in the thread acknowledging the issue and that customers, participants in this conversation, were approached and requested to send their systems in for failure analysis. They have since received a new firmware to evaluate which is currently an ongoing process.

I see conflicting pieces of information. As I understand it, your diagnostics scenario fixed the keystroke problem, which you designed a test of pressing each key 32 times with certain sequential conditions. However, you highlighted in red the missed keystrokes, so the keyboard remains dysfunctional, it seems.?????
