Re:X1 Extreme Gen 2 missing keystrokes

Same, I had to download from the Lenovo support website.  It's hard to say whether it's improved on my P1 Gen 2.  I definitely still have the problem when pressing the corner of the keys with the system not registering a key press.

This is a Hardware issue.. The keyboard have a very bad quality.

The only solution for this is a complete keyboard recall for this model (X1 Extreme Gen2).

I have said this weeks ago.

Probably will never get a fix because this is an expensive notebook with very low sales number compared to other products. It is not very popular, and at the end of the year will be replaced with a updated model (Gen3).

Installed the 1.29 firmware and having missing keystrokes as well. I have the same problem when I press in the corner of the keyboard.

Thus, I think that the quality of this keyboard is poor and maybe there are other factors which creates this situation.

So what now? Waiting for more complaints?

although I have not been providing a lot of feedback due to too much work, i had pointed out some months ago (part of the thread that disappeared) that this issue also happens with (at least some) Gen 1 models (as is mine, bought in mid aug 2019).

all alleged 'fixes' mentioned thus far have failed.

was hopeful on the new Bios updated mentioned (v. 1.29); going into support i see this version only exists for Gen 2; on Gen 1 last update is v. 1.27 and readme provides no mention of potential fix for missing keystrokes. after installation confirm problem persists.

of note that (pseudo) support in the country of purchase (PT) claims to be unaware of this issue albeit the hundreds of posts here, reddit, twitter etc. they propose to replace KB without providing a rationale behind it.

support is beyond poor.

I think you are talking about South Europe Lenovo support (Lenovo Portugal). The support Is awful, I tried to escalate the case to a complaint and they refused to do it. I tried to explain my problems and they continue saying that the keyboard is ok. They do not know nothing about this because they do not want to inform that this problem really exists.

At least, in your case, they will change your keyboard. In my case, none of the provided solutions worked.

correct, if not mistaken it is the same callcenter/support center for PT, ES and IT. the proposal for KB replacement happened only after much effort but given similar replacements mentioned on this thread i don't see the point in doing so. apart from that i've spent the last 6 months traveling non stop for work hence my inability to have 'physical support' as haven't been more than 8/10 days in the same place.

still, i find it bizarre (to be diplomatic) that support centers continue to pretend this is a non-issue or that we are just a small % of affected users.

By the way, X1 Extreme with 4k display is unable to mainain adequate performance in hybrid graphics mode with two GPUs enabled. Even if you run youtube or other video in 4k with dedicated Nvidia graphics, you will get constant image freezes and poor overall performance. The solution is to disable integrated graphics in BIOS.

After doing this there will be enough performance to run even 8k video smoothly. On the other hand, battery life descreases dramatically, virtually making it a stationary PC..

This is the worst Notebook computer I ever owned, and I will never buy a Lenovo again, for me and for my clients.

I am stuck with a USD 2.000 credit debt and a Notebook that I cannot even write an e-mail or a document for my work.

At least my old Asus had a better keyboard, but it was awful at other areas (like stability).

Next Notebook will be a cheaper 15" Full HD, and I will build my own Desktop PC, like the good old days when everything worked as expected.

I had to pruchase another HP Pavilion 15 Ryzen 5 Notebook for writing e-mails and my documents, and have a minimal decent battery life for road work.

When I need horsepower, I will connect to this crappy stationary Lenovo "Extreme" with TeamViewer or RDP.

I will use this Lenovo POS as a desktop machine until december when all payments had been completed. Then, I will sell both and will buy a 16" MBP.

Insane, but true.
