Trust your guts, if you think you have the problem then you do have that problem.

If you have Premier support, you should be able to get it repaired very quickly.  As I said previously, Lenovo acknowledged to the repair technician it is a known problem with the model.  The first keyboard replacement was actually worse than the original.  He came out the next day and swapped with a different one.  After using it for the last week, I can say the problem has been resolved for me.

In Chile now we are on quarantine. So, apart from the part delivery time from USA or Chine, it will going to be a very long time before this hardware problem get fixed.

My fully loaded, decked out Lenovo Extreme Gen 2 is also missing keystrokes when I type. I ordered this computer about a month ago and it came in last week. I noticed right away. A bios/driver update seemed to help, but didn't relieve the issue 100%

I did spring the extra money for onsite service, so lets see if they come through or not.

Re:X1 Extreme Gen 2 missing keystrokes

I reported missing keystrokes to support again and they contacted me via email saying that keyboard needs to be replaced. And that due to all this coronavirus situation asked if I could replace the keyboard myself. I said ok, I will.

I got the new keyboard from Netherlands on friday.

The old one:

and the new one:

https://ibb.co/rkP8sXh

Three hors (hours) of screwdriver work and the keyboard is replaced. In this mode (model) you need to disassemble everything to replace keyboard because everything is mounted on it.

After two days I can confirm that the new keyboards misses keystrokes just as the old one.

I don't know what to say.

This problem will be not fixed.

By the time Covid-19 danger pass, there will be a Gen3 notebook, possibly with many other problems, except for this.

So, Gen2 owners will be left in the dark.

I learn to live with this. At te end of year, I will sell the notebook for USD 1,000 or less, write off the money and buy a Mac.

And I hpe Lenovo ends like Toshiba.

What kind of support do you have? Lenovo NL keeps asking me to send in my unit for repair, but I refuse to send it in for "repairs" when I'm absolutely sure there's no fix available for: (and miss my main development unit a few weeks during this Covid period) - this missing key issue - grid on the oled 4k touch-screen - fans on a lot of the time when the unit is idle - standby time of max 4 hrs on lowest power. the thing that might be solved - loose bottom panel the thing that's bothering me but no main issue - external screen speaker plops a lot when starting/stopping apps that might use sound. bummed by this "top of the line" machine. Had I known about the first four issues I never would have bought this unit. 4k should have been brilliant and awesome. I thought OLED should be a power saver. The I9 CPU could get hot, but the unit should be quiet and not use that much power when not using it. And I was really looking forward for the AWESOME typing experience that Thinkpads were rumoured to have...

@Dohmen

Maybe you have to repaste the CPU. I have the maxed out Version of this device. (I9 9880h, 64GB RAM, 2x 2TB SSD, OLED etc.) Fans are almost "off". Only on heavy load (rendering 3Ds Max and Cinema 4D) there are fast running fans. Like i said, in idle fans are off and with moderat load the fans are very quiet and not noticeable. (i can hear them with y ears on the device only) Then i never had some problems with the speakers. (blopping) Maybe try to update Audio Driver. At the moment iam almost happy with the system. Would be nice if Lenovo could remove wifi whitelist. Sure, there are some things to fix... but the worst thing is fixed (almost) completely. (Missing keystrokes).

Very unhappy with the laptop!!! The keyboard become irresponsible just after 2 weeks and after 3 weeks, the battery was defect and didn't work anymore. They only suggested repair via shipment, but this will take forever and is unacceptable for me. I PAID FOR ON-SITE REPAIR SERVICE. Coronavirus is not an excuse. Craftmanship, ship delivery and a lot more are all still working in Germany.

I have regular on site warranty. First time they asked for the latpop to be shipped in for 'testing'. I said I can't do that because I need something to work on and then they just closed my support ticket. I opened another one with the same report and that's where I got the keyboard shipped to me then.
