I just received and installed the 1.30 BIOS and guess what:

NO MORE MISSING KEYS!!!

This is awesome! Took Lenovo a while but now it's fixed. Thanks a lot!!!!!!

(On a sidnot, evn the battery stndbytime is now fixed, TEN hors instead of FOUR. Just as advertised!!!!!! The creakng of the housing and the visible grid of the OLED touchscren is also gone now. No more ploping and cracking in the externl speakers. No more lagging!!!! And the fans stay off when the CPU isn't doig anything :-) )

For reals? This must be an April Fools post? No way all of these issues are magically fixed with this BIOS update?

April's fools.

But... the keyboard ECFW fix is real. Three days with the private fix I received, and I haven't noticed any missed keystroke (software related). My experience is much better.

I hope it will go public soon.

BTW, I don't have any serious other problem with the notebook. Core i7 CPU runs fine, fans are OK, 4K IPS display are OK (no grid, because it is not touchscreen).

I am only having a crackling sound sometimes, and the bottom cover thing.

Of course, this notebook is overpriced for the quality that really represents, but I can now live with it.

@joloriquelme

Crackling sound is a known issue in Windows. Change the Samplingrate to 44.1/48 and it should be fixed. I also got the new bios per PM. Its even better now. Better Batterytime and removing of Whitelist related to WiFi would be great.

Wait a minute.

I am still on BIOS 1.29.

What Lenovo sent me was only the ECFW Update.

Are you on 1.29 too? Or a better version?

I guess you have just unmasked Lenovo cheerleader.

Edit: Roman79 just edited his post so it doesn't state that he got non-existent 1.30 BIOS anymore. Because he has not.

I have a very simple question for Lenovo support here. Do you really think customers for your so-called high-end laptop are just a bunch of idiots? Is that so?

Can you share the Update?

I talked to the Lenovo Premier Support today, they have no information about a BIOS update

X1 Extreme Gen.2 running openSUSE Tumbleweed
T520 (Tumbleweed as well) ...and some older ThinkPads

@rewter

Indeed, in this case maybe you are one. I just edit because of typing error. (Mods can see my original Text, so they can confirm that i dont delete or mod anything in content.) And yes, i thought i got new Bios, of course, Bios is newer, but it shows still 1.29. It was primary an EC Update. I dont know why you talk that way about me. Iam just a customer like you. I spent over 4000€ for my device and now iam fine with that. Like i wrote many times, i only would like to see that Lenovo removes the WhiteList Limitation that i can ue another Wifi-Card.

Many Problems here in this Thread seems just to be Software-related. Otherwise why some Users talking about high CPU/GPU usage only on playing 4k/8k Video while other, with same Bios and Hardware, dont have this issue?  Same is with missing keystrokes, yes it is/was a issue. But... if you dont hit the key correct (only soft on edges) you dont have to wonder that this stroke wont be registered, the same Problem would be existing on other Devices. and yes, i agree, the keyboard on 2018 Line was a bit better (travel way). I owned a X1 carbon 6th gen too. Was great. Since 7th Gen they changed Keyboard.

@flyte

Yeah, the first time after many Years Lenovo decides to use WhiteList in a Thinkpad. Its just a list, integrated in Bios, which contains a small list of Wifi Card you can use in this device. If you install an other wifi card which is not on whitelist the device deny boot/work until you remove this non whitelisted card or swap with a card which is on the whitelist.

There is no reason for such limitation except you have to buy expensive Lenovo labeled cards. I owned X1 Carbon 5th Gen, 6th Gen, X1 Yoga 3rd gen, X1 Extreme 1st gen, all did not have any limitations related to the used WiFi Card. I want to use a Broadcom Card but the device deny boot/work with that card because not wihitelisted. (All the device i had and wrote about in this post, did accept this card.)

So, i hope Lenovo will remove this whitelist nonsense soon. I dont spent so much money to get limitations from manufacturer only to maximize profit. They can use this on the mainstream devices but not on the highend models.
