Re:X1 Extreme Gen 2 missing keystrokes

Can anyone confirm that the re-released 1.29-1.22 BIOS works and fixes the keyboard problem?

I put 1.30 on my computer when it was first released, and they keyboard is great now, but I do experience my CPU maxing out at times with fans running full blast.  If I kill the process causing it or restart the computer, it goes back to normal.  That may be why they pulled it.  But I do NOT want to go back to the previous keyboard experience just to avoid a couple random CPU spikes if the re-released BIOS doesn't fix it.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

(Once again, getting more info on here than from Lenovo itself)

@racer2086

Hi, try to edit the power plan as pictured, lower the maximum limit to 99% so the CPU won't use the Turbo boost feature. That way you should never blast the fans. I always set these two lower than 100% .. you can also save battery a little by setting the battery lever lower but if you go too low you will see it as the device really turn slower.

edit. open the image in new tab to see it larger.

Installed BIOS 1.31. So far, so good, still no heyboard issues.

@joloriquelme Notice anything that's different? The README says "updated CPU microcode" but I'm not sure what that means.

Nothing different, except for one user reporting fan speed issues on another thread in the forum.

Haha that was actually me. I can confirm the fan issues start with BIOS 1.31.

BIOS 1.31 came out and I STILL have missing keystrokes - I've messaged premier support and it hasn't been very fruitful, my emails have not been responded to for 3 days now. Pretty upset at how this company is managing this issue, leaving users in the dark, forcing customers to upgrade warranty services to get any "useful" help at all. If anyone still has the BIOS 1.30 exe file, can you privately message me the file? Seems like that version fixed it - I'm sure i'd get more help from the users in this forum than from Lenovo themselves

Re:X1 Extreme Gen 2 missing keystrokes

I have been running BIOS 1.31 now for five days. I have a P1 Gen2 with i9, 4K, HDR, Atmos. My system is running the best it ever has, and it feels like what I would have expected out of the box (just took six months to get the issues corrected). The initial release of BIOS 1.29 (before it was recalled) had resolved my missing key issue. My key presses continue to be fine with 1.31.

I do notice that the left portion of the keyboard isn't as smooth as the right side; this is purely a mechanic thing and doesn't bother me much. The left keys are slightly harder to push and generate more noise.
