Re: X1 Extreme Gen 2 missing keystrokes

2019-11-30, 9:01 AM

I got my keyboard replaced with one with another procuct number. The original was from LTN and the new one is a substitute from SRX. Missing keys on both. Waiting for keyboard change again, as  the one I got had a problem with broken return key.

The ironic thing is that I picked the ThinkPad because of the keyboard...

Re: X1 Extreme Gen 2 missing keystrokes

I have the same problem in my recently bought P1 Gen 2. I have started a new discussion in the P1 G2 forum. In my case I have seen the affected keys are quite random but I noticed it usually happens with the e, i, del, p and r, as well as with the space bar, but any letter can be affected. I have tried all the things I have seen here and elsewhere with no luck:
- Unchecking the USB selective suspending does not work
- Running troubleshooter does not work
- All drivers and windows are up to date, including BIOS.
- It doesn't happen with external keyboards.
- Testing in safe mode doesn't seem to give the same problem, but it is hard to say as it is very random.
- I don't see any correlation between workload, speed, open processes, plugged/unplugged, etc... and this issue.

I hope they provide a solution to this, as it seems to be a general problem and not something especific to this model.

Hello Darrsol, thanks for sharing your problem with P1, sounds very familiar. I don't know if P1 has numpad keyboard but if it does then the problem might be software based as the numpad keyboard as far as I know is different than the one in X1E. Or at least the problem might not be the keyboard itself. I remember reading that atleast on the T series the numpad keyboard is actually little smaller on the base keyboard section than the one without numpad.

P1 is exactly same machine ad X1E. Different GPU. Same keyboard, with same product number.

The P1 G2 doesn't come with the numpad, it seems to be the same type of keyboard as X1 G2, as pointed out above, so the problem might be the same, but still got no solution.

Thanks! That makes a lot of sense and I guess the solution, if any, has to be the same for both laptops.

Re: X1 Extreme Gen 2 missing keystrokes

Hi to all,

I am from Santiago, Chile.

This is my first Lenovo ever. I brought a X1E G2 after running away from Asus, and his paltry support (I had a ZenBook Pro with ScreenPad, and had all type of things).

Yesterday, I noticed several keystrokes missing. I was thinking it was my fault because this is a new keyboard for me, and it's a harder one compared to my ex Asus.

Then, I realize that also a little 'beep' sounded when I write too fast.

I checked this after a Google Search.

https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht500427

After try this, at least the beep went away. But I think I still have missing keystrokes.

This is sad. I was thinking Lenovo was a better brand than Asus.

I think I will get a Mac (with the new/old scissor keyboard, of course).
