Re:X1 Extreme Gen 2 missing keystrokes

2020-06-29, 20:39 PM

from the last week or two, mine is also overheating when connected to AC.

seems to be ok when on battery.

I tried with BIOS 1.30 and 1.31 with same results.

I got 60 degrees Celsius on idle on  AC and 50 on battery.

The fan is now always spinning when connected to AC.

I'm not sure what changed lately.

I try to stop the lenovo thermal management service, but still same behavior.

@okko Did you try rolling back to BIOS 1.30? I rolled back and my keyboard was working okay again. Also, I don't have thermal issues. But, we are on winter here and my temps are colder than usual.

I chimed in after being on 1.31 briefly to report no issues. However, as time is passing by I too am seeing occasional missing strokes and noticeable overheating.

In addition, I just had the whole keyboard give up and stop working. Restart got it working again. Anyone else experiencing keyboard not working?

I can confirm that the fans are on in the 80% of the time, also with only chrome opened (3%CPU load). I downgraded to 1.30 firmware and nothing is changed, but keystrokes seems ok.

However, after downgrading to 1.30 and installing Intel Corporation - Extension - 27.20.100.8190 today, the search bar of windows stopped to work: do you see the same problem? Probably is related to the intel update

Hi,

My Thinkpad P1-Gen2 has the 1.31 BIOS installed but is still missing keystrokes. Do you have any idea on how to fix it? Thanks.

For me, so far BIOS 1.30 is by far the best for this notebook. It provides the best keyboard experience. Almost no keyboard issues. Thermal behavior is normal.

The rest of the drivers are updated, except for the faulty Intel VGA driver that broke the brightness.

I insist: if someone needs the BIOS 1.30 or the older Intel VGA driver, please contact me by PM.

@joloriquelme

I'm on 1.31. My thermal is ok, but Vantage is pushing to upgrade 2 drivers supposed to be related with thermal performance.

'Lenovo Intelligent Thermal solution driver' 1.0.1.356  (I'm on *.335)

'Lenovo Power management driver' 1.67.17.51 (I'm on *.48)

any suggestion whether to proceed with upgrade or stay?

did you upgraded these drivers?

thks for any support

Hi, my father bought an X1E2 with this configuration: i7 9750H, 16GB ram one module, 512 GB SSD, FHD 500 nits display. It was built in march 2020. The laptop came with BIOS 1.28 and there aren't missed keystrokes. At this point I think it is related to some hardware situation or the keyboard itself.
