Also if someone still has the 1.29 bios install file I would be grateful to receive it and downgrade.

Thanks guys. Downgraded to 1.29 / 1.22 and it sure is the best combo. Fans work like they should, no CPU over-heating (was 55-60c all the time and now 40c), keyboard works etc. It's funny how much the 1.31 bios did draw power. I was constantly pulling over 30W/h and now it's 17-18W/h so there's definitely was something very odd after this 1.29 bios. It's completely different device now.

The 1.31 bios was somehow very heavy on the CPU, whole laptop was so hot it was uncomfortable to rest palms on. I switched to discrete graphics to lift some load off the CPU but it was still melting. Now it's perfectly fine with hybrid setup and laptop is cool even with passive cooling policy.

1.34 seems to be running well for me.

Surely, everyone must upgrade to 1.34 because of BIOS vulnerabilities?

Looking at the way this situation has been handled by Lenovo so far and that upgrading is a one way ticket I suggest anyone reconsider any upgrading until it's been proven that the upgrade fixes things.

Re:X1 Extreme Gen 2 missing keystrokes

I just updated to 1.34-1.22; I was planning to hold off for a bit, but I also don't like to skip vulnerability updates. Previously I was on the pulled 1.31-1.23, which had some issues with dropped keypresses but they were rare enough that I never rolled back to 1.29-1.22. So far 1.34 has been performing fine, but of course I haven't really been on it long enough to say for sure. After the update I did open up an editor and type out several paragraphs without a missed keystroke, haven't seen any since, and same when typing this reply. But I'll try and update in a few days to say if I'm still having no issues. If I see any problems I'll definitely be back here to post right away.

I never had any of the issues with thermals that y'all have mentioned—or if I did, I never noticed them—so I can't really comment on that.

Just checking in; I haven't been typing enough lately to feel like I can say for sure that there's no issue with the new firmware. For what it's worth I haven't noticed any problems yet, but since this is just my personal laptop I don't always have a lot of need to type extensively, and haven't in the last few days. I'll update when I feel like I can say something more certain.

BIOS 1.34 shows under the manual update sections of the drivers page, but not via scan or in Lenovo Vantage. Also, it's named after P1 but not X1 Gen 2 laptops, albeit it shows in manual search for X1 drivers. This is very confusing. Is this driver even intended for X1E2? I understand how similar P1 and X1 are but my question stands.

Also, someone mentioned second SSD issues with this version of BIOS. Please can someone point me to the post where that is discussed. Thanks.

EDIT: I can see in the Read Me that BIOS is indeed intended for X1 as well. But why is it not showing up in Vantage? The severity is listed as Critical.
