X1 Extreme Gen 3 using Lenovo Dock has the screens disconnect after a few hours of idle time

2020-11-01, 12:22 PM

Hello!

I have opened a ticket with Lenovo support, but haven't heard anything from them. I have a ThinkPad USB-C Dock Gen 2 dock that after leaving my computer on at night will disconnect the external screens. The external keyboard and mouse work fine. I also have an X1 Extreme Gen 1 that doesn't have this issue.

List of things I have tried -

  1. Update firmware of dock
  2. Update firmware and drivers of X1 - didnt help
  3. Tried another computer - which works fine.
  4. If I unplug the dock from the X1 and plug it back it corrects the issue
  5. I rebooted the dock and that didn't help as well.

Interesting.

I have a USB-C Dock Gen 1 which I have used with the X1 E Gen 3 and haven't observed any anomalies. This said - I rarely leave my pc on at night, unless i simply forget it on.
