X1 Extreme - M.2 SATA SSD key compatibility

2018-11-22, 7:06 AM

Hi everyone,

I just bought a ThinkPad X1 Etreme and would like to add a second SSD. As I only use it for storing data, I want to opt for a cheaper SATA based one, as these are also supported.

Which M.2 keys are supported on the X1E: B-key, M-key or B&M-key?

I would assume that B&M would work, but I am not sure whether there is a downside compared to get the right fit B- or M-key.

The option I was looking at was this: http://www.crucial.com/ProductDisplay?urlRequestType=Base&catalogId=10151&categoryId=&productId=2429002&urlLangId=-1&langId=-1&top_category=&parent_category_rn=&storeId=10151

Would this one work?

Any help is much appreciated :-)

Just wanted to report back, that the mentioned SSD is working flawlessly. Therefore an inexpensive, slow storage solution for my data :-)

This helped me too
