Yes they do. The only difference is on GPU, P1 has better graphics card.
By the way, two memory modules on P1/X1 Extreme would get you noticeable performance imporovement (some test shows 30% improvement). So if you only have one memory module, I strongly recommend to get another one (with same capacity, like 16GBx2, 32GBx2).

I was between X1 and P1 but choosed X1 over P1 because it was in offer with discount. For my work (software development) i wouldn't notice a lot performance difference between them except for gaming
About memory modules is well known. Using 2 of them then the cpu will utilize dual-channel binding for memory (increases bandwidth). Not just on the P1/X1 but also on every computer system with dual-/tri-/quad-channel architectures. My X1 is using 2x16Gb.
